What does it mean to be a Conscious Business?

Have you heard the term Conscious Business before?

I find it fascinating that when you form a business, you file for an “entity” status—an official structure that gives your business a framework to operate within. But after nearly nine years of walking this journey with Indigo, it’s become clear to me that Indigo is more than just a business entity. It is a living, breathing expression of consciousness.

Indigo holds space in a way that few businesses do. It’s transformative—because of how we honor the services we provide, the people we employ, the clients we work with, and everything in between.

When you walk into Indigo, there’s a palpable vibe—an energy that seems to wrap around you the moment you cross the threshold. It’s hard to describe, but once you feel it, you understand. You feel seen, supported, and safe.

A dear friend once came to Indigo for a massage while visiting from out of town. Later, when I asked her how it went, she said something that has stayed with me ever since:

“Jordan, I was not prepared for that. It wasn’t a regular massage experience. As soon as I walked in, I felt disarmed and emotional—but in a good way. During the massage, so much came up that it brought me to tears. Again, in a good way. My therapist was so sweet and professional. I’ve never experienced anything like it, and I’ve been to a lot of spas.”

Her words reminded me that Indigo really is something special. It’s not just the physical space—it’s the Indigo way. It’s how we do things. It’s how we make people feel.

Something else she said struck a deep chord in me: how profoundly people are able to process when they’re in the presence of someone who truly cares, and in a space that’s energetically aligned for healing.

It takes two things:

  1. The presence and intention of another human being.

  2. A safe and comfortable space that invites people back into their bodies.

When those elements are in place, the unprocessed and long-held parts of ourselves begin to release. Healing begins.

This brings me to something I’ve come to deeply believe: as a conscious business, Indigo breathes through the people within it. We are who we are because of the souls who choose to show up every day with heart and integrity.

Someone recently asked me, “When you’re hiring, what’s the number one thing you look for in a new team member?”

My answer was simple: Kindness.
Because kindness is something you can’t teach—it’s innate. Everything else is teachable.

If you were to distill Indigo down to its core, I believe you’d find kindness at the center of everything we do.

In the spirit of that kindness—the essence of Indigo—we hold space for others to feel seen, heard, and understood.

While that might sound overly simple, I invite you to reflect:
When was the last time you walked into a business—a shop, boutique, spa, restaurant, brewery—and truly felt like the people working there were present, intentional, and happy to serve you?

What about in your personal life?
When was the last time you had 100% of a friend’s attention in conversation? And did you leave their presence feeling better than before?

“The Indigo team and services are world class,” a longtime client recently said.
Her loyalty—and the loyalty of so many who have been with us for years—is a testament to how we make people feel.

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, kindness, gentleness, and self-control; against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22

Indigo is more than a business—it’s a consciousness in motion, shaped by kindness, elevated by presence, and sustained by the quiet, consistent intention to care. When we bring heart into the work we do, when we prioritize how people feel over how things look, we create something rare: a space where healing is possible and connection is real. Whether you’re a client, a team member, or simply someone who’s walked through our doors, you’ve become part of this living entity. And if there’s one thing I hope you take with you, it’s the knowing that you were always meant to be met with this level of care—and you’re always welcome back home to Indigo.
